JOB TITLE: Resource Development/Volunteer Coordinator

GOAL OF THE JOB:  Develops and increases resources, both human and monetary.  Oversees all aspects of fundraising activities.  He/she evaluates current programs and provides strategic direction for EVLA HfH Affiliate.  He/she also encourages commitment and involvement by the staff and the board in the affiliate’s entire fundraising process.  He/she investigate possible grant sources for foundations that are potential funding sources for the affiliate and writes requests for funding.  Current focus is on foundation funding for Building fund or general operations.  Recruit, support, train and manage retention of volunteers.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Affiliate Board

TIME REQUIRED:  Forty hours per week.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT (MINIMUM): 1 year.

SALARY:  Exempt position, DOE $25,000. - $33,000. (plus up to 50% of employer provided health insurance for employee only-not family)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend monthly Affiliate Board meeting
  2. Determine availability and critical date requirement of appropriate grants
  3. Identify potential new foundation funding sources for Habitat
  4. Collect the information needed to complete grant from files or from Habitat staff/board members.  Be responsible for all grant reporting requirements
  5. Prepare files for tracking and filing of grant application documents, application and replies
  6. Create the development plan with the Director of Operations and recommend to the board as appropriate
  7. Make fundraising presentations as necessary
  8. Identify prospective donors, as well as contact donors recommended by staff board members, and contacts
  9. Communicate with donors where applicable, ensure good, ongoing relationships
  10. Planning and coordinating of Fund Raising Events including an annual “signature” event
  11. Arrange and deliver presentations to educate civic groups, churches and business organizations about the work of Habitat internationally and locally
  12. Create and execute fund raising campaigns via mail and/or telephone
  13. Track donations and write acknowledgement notes to donors, sponsors and partners of the program
  14. Establish and update a volunteer database
  15. Work with Director of Operations to produce affiliate newsletter at least biannually.
  16. Actively find new avenues for recruiting volunteers and follow-up on leads provided by various committees and phone calls
  17. Work with various groups and individuals to match volunteer interest and skills with volunteer needs
  18. Assemble volunteers as needed for specific tasks on building sites, in the office and for committee needs, as required
  19. Execute periodic recognition of volunteers with “thank you’s” and follow-up calls
  20. Ensure dignitaries and volunteers are invited to all special events
  21. Coordinate annual volunteer recognition event

QUALIFICATIONS OR SPECIAL SKILLS NEEDED:

  1. Strong belief in the goals and mission of Habitat for Humanity
  2. High school diploma, some college preferred
  3. Enthusiasm for Habitat’s mission and willingness to ask for donations of all types
  4. Experience in grant research and writing
  5. Ability to identify new funding sources for operations (this position funded for one year, employee will need to develop funding sources)
  6. Solid writing skills, Word processing ability
  7. Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  8. Flexible schedule
  9. Energetic, team-orientated individual
  10. Proactive thinker, experience working with diverse groups of people
  11. Good organizational and communication skills
  12. Good telephone personality
  13. Ability to organize and energize volunteers
  14. Connections with potential donors a plus
